Cabling items to confirm before rollout
Confirm these once, at program level, so every site starts from the same scope.
- Access point locations. Ceiling AP quantities and typical positions for the store format, cabled back to the comms area.
- POS and counter positions. Data and power for registers, payment terminals and customer screens.
- Comms area. Rack or cabinet location, size, power, switching and provider handoff for the standard store.
- CCTV and security devices. Camera, reader and alarm positions that need network pathways.
- ESL infrastructure. Access point and cabling requirements that support electronic shelf label systems.
- Back-of-house equipment. Printers, time clocks, kitchen or warehouse devices specific to the format.
Repeatable scope matters across multiple stores
Every store that deviates from the standard scope costs time: new decisions, new documentation, new surprises. A locked, documented store standard lets each site be quoted, delivered and verified the same way.
EDN supported the Total Tools ESL rollout ahead of schedule and supports Mitre 10 ESL rollout requirements – programs built on exactly this kind of repeatable delivery.
Retail sites need practical coordination
Rollout work happens in live retail environments, which adds constraints an office fitout does not have.
- Trading hours. Work scheduled around opening hours, deliveries and peak periods.
- Site access. Keys, alarms, inductions and landlord requirements confirmed before crews arrive.
- Consistent documentation. Each site’s cabling tested, labelled and recorded against the program standard.
- Clear escalation. A known contact for scope questions so site crews are never guessing.
